What Your Sleep Position Says About You (Mine Was Scarily Accurate!)
Your sleep routine reveals a lot about your personality. It also impacts your work schedule, your overall productivity, and even your social life.
Of course, everyone's routines are a little bit different. Maybe you have to have a glass of water by your bed before you fall asleep. Maybe you're like famous author Ernest Hemingway, who woke every day at 6:00 AM sharp. Or maybe you're more like Lady Gaga, who allegedly sleeps inside of an egg in her Manhattan home.
However, it's not just the time you fall asleep, how many hours of sleep you need, or even the style of bed you sleep in that reflect your lifestyle.
It's also the position you sleep in.
Read on to learn more about what you're sleeping position says about you.
The Plank
Do you like to sleep on your side with your legs straight out and your arms at your sides? If your sleeping position is stick-straight, you might be surprised to learn that this actually means you're a social butterfly.
In other words, the only time you enjoy following a strict routine is when you sleep. In your waking life, you're constantly surrounded by friends, and you enjoy taking on a leadership role in the office.
Everyone knows they can rely on you to help them find out about the newest underground bar, make the best connections, and score a table at the most exclusive restaurant.
The Outreach
This sleeping position is pretty similar to The Plank position. However, while you sleep on your side, you usually stretch your arms out in front of you -- like you're reaching for something or someone.
This means that you have a personality that helps people to feel at ease, and that you're often everyone's go-to person when they need advice. You're a selfless person, and others trust you with their most intimate secrets. However, you're sometimes known to be a bit of a pessimist.
Before you make a final decision about anything, you like to weigh all of your options. But when you do make up your mind, there's no changing your opinion.
The Floater
Maybe you sleep on your back, with your hands at your sides. If so, you're a bit more reserved than most people. However, you constantly observe the world around you, and are easy going.
Structure and self-discipline are incredibly important to you. You're selective about the people you let into your life, and often place high expectations on yourself and others as a result. You're reliable, innovative, and serious.
However, you're much more likely to snore! Good news that snoring can be reduced by adapting to some lifestyle changes or using sleeping aids such as anti-snoring devices, nose vents, or snoring mouthpieces.
The Head-In-The-Clouds
This is one of the more rare sleeping positions. You sleep on your stomach, with your head turned to the side, gripping your pillow.
As a result, you're known for being highly unique -- you're truly an individual. People love your openness and your sense of humor. You definitely have a creative side, and you're not afraid to be blunt.
Though most people see you as a free spirit, secretly, you love having control and are seriously organized. You take a lot of risks, and though not all of them pay off, you certainly learn a lot along the way.
The Star
Do you sleep on your back with your legs stretched out and your arms by your head, on either side of your pillow?
If so, most people see you as an intellectual. You're constantly ready to receive new ideas, and you're always ready to pick up the latest book. You prioritize education, and people can count on you to know the latest statistics and headlines.
However, you have an emotional side as well. You prioritize your friendships over anything else in your life, and you're always the person making sure everyone keeps up with one another.
The Fetal Position
The most famous of sleep positions, here you sleep on your side with your legs bent, like a baby in the womb.
Interestingly, this position means that people likely see you as incredibly active, inviting, and outgoing -- but you consider yourself to be more reserved. You're completely content to spend time alone, and you can always find something to do.
You rarely get bored, but when you do, you'll do anything you can to stave it off. Also, you have a tendency to overanalyze things. Let it go, and go with the flow!
